Kevin McCarthy, the Leader of the House Minority, went on to appoint Rep. Mike Turner, the Republican from Ohio as a member of the Intelligence Committee on Thursday. The committee decidedly needed a replacement after Devin Nunes, the Republican from California stated that he would be leaving Congress to be the CEO of Trump Media and Technology Group.

Rep. McCarthy stated that the commitment of Congressman Turner to the US has always been unwavering. Throughout his tenure on the Intelligence Committee, Mike has constantly established himself as an ardent seeker of truth while being a leader of national security.

Mike Turner Has Kevin McCarthy’s Unwavering Support

Mike Turner’s appointment is effective from the 1st of January, following the resignation of Nunes, Kevin McCarthy added. The committee, which is chaired by Rep. Adam Schiff, the Democrat from California, does oversee the intelligence agency of the country. It also led the inquiry into the interference of Russia in the Presidential elections in 2016. The current year saw Turner co-sponsor a bill that was introduced by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, the Democrat of New York to overhaul how the military would be handling cases of sexual assault and other such crimes.

Although Mike Turner comes with the personal recommendation of Kevin McCarthy, he has always been a major critic of Trump, particularly during the first impeachment of the former President over major allegations that he had been seeking help from Ukraine in an effort to bolster his chances of getting re-elected.

In a 2019 hearing with the acting National Intelligence Director Joseph Maguire, Mike Turner- the appointed candidate by Kevin McCarthy, stated that what the President had been doing was absolutely not right. The transcript was quite disappointing for the entire population of the country- seeing their President converse in such a manner.
