Los Angeles Lakers Remove Golden State Warriors, Advances To NBA Finals

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors, scoring 122-101, on May 12. This win advances the Lakers to the Western Conference finals. The Lakers now are at four matches to qualify for the National Basketball Associations finals.

The Los Angeles Lakers, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, became the fourth team in the history of the NBA to win so many games under .500 and qualify Western Conference Finals. These conferences were initiated in the season of 1970-71. It was under Darvin Ham, first-year coach, the Los Angeles Lakers commenced the 2-10 season and underwent a complete transformation of the game plan under the guidance of Rob Pelinka, general manager and vice president of basketball operations.

LeBron James’ Performance Uplifts The Los Angeles Lakers 

Star American basketball player LeBron James, who plays for the Lakers boosts the team’s dominance with his classic performance in Friday’s match against the Golden State Warriors. He shot 30 points on  10 for 14, 9 assists, and 9 rebounds, while Kareem Abdul-Jabbar shot 30 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds.

According to ESPN, LeBron addressing the Los Angeles Lakers’ rough start, said he thought by upgrading the roster and putting more balance on himself and co-player Anthony Davis, the Lakers had a fair chance. He further stated that he wanted to be efficient, defend and help Anthony Davis in the rebound which would help the Lakers to win, and he was successful in doing so. 

If the Los Angeles Lakers qualify, LeBron James will mark his 12th appearance in the Western Conference Finals. Friday’s victory also strengthens LeBron’s forty-first win in the postseason series in his career spanning over two decades.
