Ukraine has asked for missiles like Storm Shadow from neighboring countries. Mainly from Britain and France. This was a joint initiative from them to make powerful ones. Hence they have been under attack since 2021. They needed something more powerful to combat Russia.
This is a US-made surface-to-surface army tactical missile system. However, these come with lots of conditions. Ukraine is only allowed to use these missiles in Ukrainian territories.
US Official Feels Storm Shadow Could Be A Game Changer
Ukraine has been asking for storm shadows for a long time. Storm Shadow is a long-range cruise missile with stealth capabilities. It’s a small version of 185 range capabilities. It has a firing range of 250 kilometers or 155 miles. From a US senior military officer’s perspective, it could be a real game changer. Among all the missiles that have been provided to Ukraine by the US, this is the larger one. All they have are under 49 miles.
Since the war with Russia, the Ukrainian government has been asking for a larger one. However, they aren’t allowed to use this inside Russian territory. They are allowed to use them only when they are under attack within Ukrainian territories. UK defense secretary Ben Wallace feels this is the only and probably the best chance for Ukraine to save itself.
They are going to use these to recapture the Kremlin territory. Which Russian have taken into their power forcibly. Whereas, the Ukrainian president feels the country itself isn’t prepared for a counter-strike. They are bracing themselves.
The US has given 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers proper training for the last 10 weeks or more. If they go to war now, they tend to lose a lot of people and Zelensky isn’t ready for that massacre. The world is not ready.
