Manchester United failed to record a win for the third consecutive time at Selhurst Park. The game against Crystal Palace ended in a draw. Both sides were lackluster at getting the three points. The result increased Manchester United’s gap to first-placed Manchester City to 14 points. The two local rivals clash in the next match.

Manchester United Struggling With Their Recent Run

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the man at the helm for Manchester United, was disappointed with the day’s performance. He said that Palace was always a difficult team to score against but his team was too inefficient for the task. The result comes after two goalless draws. One was against Chelsea in the Premier League and the other in their Europa League tie against Real Sociedad. Manchester United won that tie on an aggregate score of 4-0.

Solskjaer however refused to blame anyone. Instead, he pointed out how tiring the schedule currently is. So he insists that it is natural the players’ abilities to always perform at their best are taking a toll.

Marcus Rashford and Nemanja Matic were very close to scoring. However, they were not accurate enough. The Palace keeper also made spectacular saves to keep the clean sheet.

Edinson Cavani made an unexpected start after having missed the previous four matches due to an injury. He came close to hitting the target twice. Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward made a heroic clearance to deny Cavani a golden tap-in, three meters from the goal line when the clock had a minute remaining for the end of the first half.

On the other end, Andros Townsend found himself with only Dean Henderson between him and the goal. Henderson proved his credentials as a goalkeeper by expertly closing him down and forcing a corner.
