LA Reid is all set to see two of the most versatile singers around, as well as music royalty- Mariah Carey and Beyonce- round for round in Verzuz. It can’t be denied that the record executive has definitely played a massive role in shaping the careers of some of the biggest acts in the music industry- Usher, Babyface, TLC, and others- so he is in no way a stranger to developing a star’s power.
But when it comes to chart-busting artists hitting the stage for a battle, it is of no doubt whatsoever that the competitors have to be Carey and Beyonce.
Mariah Carey Versus Beyonce: Who Would Win?
Reid recently opened up about his choices for the popular online series- which was launched by mega-producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland during the peak of the lockdowns. In his interview, Reid stated that his ideal competition would be Mariah Carey versus Beyonce. He believes that these two artists would make up the perfect Verzuz matchup- much better than any other artist out there.
The host of the talk show also agreed with this opinion, agreeing that both of these chart-topping singers would be among the best showdowns that the show had to offer. With the number of fans that both of them have, along with the legacies that they both are leaving, it would be a battle for the ages.
Yet, fans of the singers don’t seem too keen on this idea. Many have stated that Mariah Carey and Beyonce are on two completely different levels, and it would be quite a travesty to put the vocalist of Honey as a competitor- with her vocals being considered untouchable over the decades.
A fan commented that while Beyonce had her legacy and was a certified icon in the industry, Carey was the blueprint that every singer followed. No one could go above Carey.
Some fans have also commented that the only person who could go against Mariah Carey and potentially secure a win would be the late Whitney Houston.
