PSG Dominates Clermont 5-0 Thanks To Lionel Messi

In their first game of the new Ligue 1 season, the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star provided another magical moment as his team crushed Clermont Foot on Saturday.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner completed the French champs’ 5-0 victory with an incredible bicycle kick. It happened after he had already scored in the game, and if it was purposeful, it also provided an incredible assist for Neymar to score another goal.

The Argentine’s total performance astounded everyone, not just PSG fans. Fans of the host team Clermont Foot cheered the forward and screamed his name in the stands after he scored his incredible acrobatic goal late in the game. As a sign of respect for the Argentina international, others bowed to Messi.

PSG Wins The First Match Of The Season

On social media, there has been a tonne of applause for the goal. Two minutes later, Messi sent the ball back to Pablo Sarabia, who squared it to Neymar. Prior to placing the ball in the bottom corner, Brazil forward had control of the ball.

With a well-placed free kick, Neymar set up Marquinhos to head in the third goal in the 39th minute. Messi was supplied by Neymar just before halftime, but Mory Diaw stopped his attempt.

In the second half, PSG slowed down a little bit against a Clermont team that just survived relegation the previous year. In the 80th minute, Messi still made it 4-0. He and Neymar performed a one-two before he scored with a low shot.

Leandro Paredes’ pass was chested down by the Argentine superstar in the 86th minute, who then scored with an overhead kick. PSG apparently wants to transfer some prominent players, including Mauro Icardi, Idrissa Gueye, Julian Draxler, Rafinha, Ander Herrera, Thilo Kehrer, and Layvin Kurzawa, off of its matchday squad.
