Real Madrid’s Win Over Cadiz Wasn’t Enough To Take Over The Table From Barcelona

In their final LaLiga game well before World Cup vacation, Real Madrid defeated 2nd bottom Cadiz 2-1 thanks to goals from Eder Militao and Toni Kroos.

After succumbing 3-2 defeat to Vallecano on Monday, the champions league winners last season picked up their form and are currently second inside the standings with thirty-five points, 2 behind league leaders Barcelona.

Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti in his press conference said that he think they played well until they conceded the goal. However, he said that Luka’s strike could also improve the scoreline, but that is normal in the game. He said that these 3points are well deserved and they end first stage of the season well and good.

With the World Cup beginning in less than 2 weeks, there had been a sense of the season coming to an end on a cold night at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, even though the match was not particularly memorable. Real Madrid had a difficult time getting past Cadiz because of their intense defensive stance.

Real Madrid Revive Themselves Against Cadiz After Losing The First Game This Season Against Rayo:

Defender Espino almost gave Cadiz an unexpected advantage with a long-range drive that went just over the bar and gave goalie Thibaut Courtois a great fright.

Just before the half time, Real Madrid took the lead when Militao headed to give the ball direction into an empty net after Kroos produced an excellent deep cross from one short corner upon that left touchline.

After the half, Madrid maintained control of the match, and in the 70th, Kroos increased the advantage with a strong shot off a rebound.

Following a well placed low cross by Vinicius Jr., Lucas Perez scored for Cadiz after Courtois was unable to stop a long-range shot by Theo Bongonda. Luka Modric had a wonderful opportunity to add a third goal, but he missed it.

With 11 points, Cadiz held onto 19th place in the rankings.
