The comments from the Black Widow actress, Scarlett Johansson, comes following the action taken by Mark Ruffalo, the actor who plays the “Hulk.” Mark Ruffalo made the decision of distancing himself from the accused press association. He is the first A-lister from Hollywood to do so. One of the coalition of the firms of PR, Netflix, Amazon, called “Time’s Up,” had made a suggestion with regard to the reforms that were announced by the HFPA. It was stated that the association that has been criticized by Scarlett Johansson, does not address the concerns about the ethics and demographics of the organization in an adequate manner. Scarlett Johansson gave a statement to the THR. She said that every actor is expected to attend press conferences by participating in the awards season. The main motive behind this is to promote a film. The actress added that in those conferences, she has often been attacked with sexist remarks by several members of the HFPA. And this is the reason why she has been missing from these conferences for so many years.
Mark Ruffalo, the Golden Globe winner stated that the HFPA had been resisting the change that was required from them. They were doing so despite earning so much from being associated with actors and filmmakers. He also claimed that now was the perfect time to fight all these wrongs.
