Serena Williams Qualifies For The Fourth Round Of The French Open On Friday

Tennis ace Serena Williams made it to the fourth round of the French Open as she put up a great show. Audiences across the globe were inching in closer to some nail-biting finishes by Serena. Daniele Collins was defeated by the 39 years old Tennis star on the Court Philippe Chartier. The match initially saw a draw after the first half with some early-round knockouts with the scores settled at 6-4, 6-4. 

In the press conference after the match, Serena Williams admitted to the match not being an easy one to win for her. She further said the game was not in her favor at the beginning and she had to haul in that win for herself.

Serena Williams’ Journey To Another French Open Title?

Serena Wiliams became one among the exact four in the top 10 of the women’s draw. Williams claimed the spot after number 3 Aryna Sabalenka was knocked over in a match by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova early on Friday. Serena Williams is focused on equalling the 24 grand slams record set by Margaret Court. However, since 2016 at Roland Garros Serena couldn’t make it through the fourth round.

Serena Williams is already a three-time French Open title winner. In this season of the French Open championship, Serena won five games in a row to qualify for the next round. She qualified for the French Open fourth round for the 13th time consecutively in Paris this year. Collins however said that she looks up to Serena as an inspiration and role model since her younger years. Serena Williams’ next match is slated for Sunday. She will be facing Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan who holds the 21st position on the table. They will be competing for a place in the quarter-finals of the French Open.
