The starting quarterback of Oklahoma, Spencer Rattler has moved to the Gamecocks, the redshirt tweeted. He will reunite with Shane Beamer, the head coach of Gamecocks. He is a former assistant at Sooners.

Spencer Rattler came into 2021 as a favorite for the preseason for the Heisman Trophy. He was the favored 1st round choice for the NFL Draft of 2022 after a strong season in 2020.

But the Sooners’ offense was listless in the opening and combined for a mere 39 points with wins over West Virginia and Nebraska. Oklahoma was down against Texas at the October Red River Showdown. Spencer was benched and Caleb Williams was brought in. Williams started the remainder of the period as he led the greatest comeback in the rivalry’s history.

Spencer Rattler is a native of Arizona and has completed 78.9% passes for a total of 1,483 yards, 5 interceptions, and 11 touchdowns this year.

Rattler comes in as a Gamecocks quarterback that faced inconsistency and injuries in the first year of coach Beamer. 3 players threw 89 passes in all. But the total completion by the roster was a mere 57.7% for a total of 2,373 yards.

Spencer Rattler Will Have A Familiar Face For Company In Stogner

Spencer Rattler will meet a familiar face as Austin Stogner, the former Sooner tight will come in as a transfer from South Carolina. For the Sooners, Stogner caught a total of 14 passes over 166 yards with 3 touchdowns this year and should be able to contribute immediately.

There was no chance that Rattler would end up being benched if Oklahoma did not have Caleb.

With Spencer Stogner now in, the Gamecocks will have the Jaheim Bell, Kevon Mullins, and Traevon Kenion.

Spencer is among the handful of players from Oklahoma to depart the program ever since Riley’s exit. The loss to Oklahoma State 37-33 has eliminated the Oklahoma Sooners from College Football Playoffs. Spencer Rattler tweeted that he was excited about the next chapter.
