Sergio Aguero could declare his retirement after the Barcelona striker experienced chest pains during a 1-1 draw against Alaves. He is expected to make an announcement on Wednesday.

Sergio Aguero experienced respiratory and cardiac difficulties at a La Liga match in October. Mundo Deportivo wrote that the Argentine striker has been forced into retirement after suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Sergio Aguero is on a free transfer from Manchester City.

Sergio Aguero recently came back from Argentina after helping the team win the Copa America. He had earlier been rushed to hospital following breathing problems on October 30. He was suffering from COVID-19 then.

At this moment, it seems certain that the brilliant striker will be forced into retirement after his cardiac condition. After he underwent heart tests in November, the club had reported that Aguero would be unavailable for 3 months as the effectiveness of his treatment is evaluated.

He had tweeted that while rumors were floating around, he would wait for 90 days before announcing his decision.

Sergio Aguero Is City’s All-Time High Scorer

Sergio Aguero left Manchester City as their all-time high goal scorer with 260 goals. He also holds the record for the most goals scored for one club in English Premier League history. In his 275 appearances, he scored 184 goals.

Sergio Aguero’s glittering career began with Independiente of Argentina, where he was the youngest ever debutant at 15 years. he moved to Athletico Madrid three years later, in 2006. He finally signed for Manchester City in 2011.

He burst onto the English Premier League in his very first season when his injury-time goal in the 94th minute against QPR gave City their first league title since 1968.

His final appearance for the city ended disappointingly for him as they were defeated in the Champions League final by Chelsea. The 2014 defeat in the World Cup was another career-low in Sergio Aguero’s illustrious career. He netted 41 times out of 101 appearances for the national side. His brief stint with Barcelona was disappointing as he scored only once in 5 matches against Real Madrid.
