Even though the first 2 stimulus check payments have already been issued, the third EIP of up to $1,400 for every person is available.
As of January 2022, the vast majority of the ARP-authorized payments that were originally due in March have been disbursed to their respective beneficiaries by direct deposit. They could also have been mailed.
If you haven’t gotten yours yet, or if you think you could be eligible for more money, you can file your tax return for 2021 by April 18.
Even though it was calculated using your reported income and dependents from 2020 or 2019, the 3rd stimulus check was technically an advance Recovery Rebate Credit 2021 credit. If your income drops or your family size grows in 2021, you may be entitled to a larger payment. Similarly, if you haven’t submitted a tax return for either 2019 or 2020, you may be eligible for a complete refund.
How Can You Claim Stimulus Checks In Your Tax Return
If your AGI is less than $75,000 as an individual or less than $160,000 as a couple, you might get up to $1,400 in the third round of stimulus check payments. A family with dependents is eligible for $1,400 per dependant.
Verify that the monies have not already been transferred to you before submitting a claim. Logging into the online account/using the Get My Payment app will verify the amount and delivery status of the third payment. The IRS will also provide you with a notice (Form 1444-C) detailing the amount that is owed to you.
If you have misplaced or think your stimulus check was stolen, you may file a claim with the IRS to have the money refunded to you as a tax refund. The Recovery Rebate Credit Worksheet should not be updated with the payout amount if you file your tax return from 2021 before the trace has been completed.
If you don’t, you’ll have to fill out the Recovery Rebate Tax Credit form and include it with your 2021 tax return. Using the worksheet, you may determine how much you are eligible to get. Then, include it on line 30 of your 2021 Form 1040 or 1040-SR.
