The Pelicans had picked up Zion Williamson as the overall first pick in that year’s draft. Safe to say he has lived up to the expectations. However, Williamson can still secure a move to the NBA’s Mecca in his career and ply his trade there. However, is that day approaching?
The Athletic has recently reported that both Zion Williamson’s family and he are unhappy with his current situation at the Pelicans. They feel that the management of the Pelicans has not been playing the proper players around Williamson, which is hindering his success. As such, sources have claimed that the promising forward’s family strongly desires him to move to a different team.
Another report in 2019 had reported that Zion Williamson himself wanted the Knicks to pick him up as their overall number 1 pick at the time of the draft. This season as well, he had spoken highly about playing from New York and the New York Knicks, especially.
He had called New York basketball’s Mecca and that he loved to play there. In college, he had played there, and that he was playing there for the first time as a pro. He was amazed by the atmosphere, regardless of the fans were cheering or booing you. He added that apart from New Orleans, New York was possibly his favorite place for playing.
Moreover, Lonzo Ball is a favorite of the player who is linked with the Knicks currently. As such, the Knicks might get both should Williamson’s unhappiness be true.
