Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, is now facing a lot of pressure to resign from his post. This originates from the fact that he is accused by a total of seven women of the act of sexual harassment. The administration of the Democratic governor is going through another situation simultaneously.
They are accused of submitting the wrong count of coronavirus deaths that took place in the nursing homes. The investigation of both cases is going on currently. The sexual harassment case is looked over by Letitia James, the Attorney General of the state of New York.
Will Andrew Cuomo Resign?
Andrew Cuomo is currently under the pressure to resign from his post. A number of his fellow party members are advocating this view. A bigger half of the congressional delegation of the state of New York is against the governor. They include Chuck Schumer, the majority leader of the senate, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Kirsten Gillibrand. Gillibrand was one of the politicians to speak against the Republican members who were accused of harassing sexually.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, gave a statement where she cleared out her position with regard to Governor Andrew Cuomo. It was done in an interview of a news channel that was attended by Pelosi. The 80-year-old speaker made it known that it was up to the governor to decide whether he should leave or stay. No such statement came from her on the resignation of the governor from the Democratic party.
The investigation of the impeachment concerning Andrew Cuomo has already been initiated in the city of Albany. It was done by the members of the Democratic party under whom the legislature works. The New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, met with another politician who advocated for his removal. It is Bill de Blasio from the Democratic party.
