He defeated Arreola (33 KOs, 38-6-1) through a unanimous verdict in the heavyweight bout of 12 rounds.
The fight happened at Carson’s Dignity Health Park in California. All 3 judges managed to score the fight for Andy through scores of 117-110, 118-109, and 118-109. It was a very significant match night for Andy, now 31 years old, who disappointed Anthony Joshua by becoming the 1st Mexican boxing champion in the heavyweight category in 2019. However, he also managed to give back his titles by losing in a rematch planned immediately.
The Comeback Of Andy Ruiz
Following his loss, after he gained a lot of weight to weigh around 310 pounds, Ruiz decided to team up with Eddy Reynoso, trainer, and Canelo Alvarez. Thanks to their team effort, his weight was reduced by around 27 pounds when he fought in his next match. Andy Ruiz said that Chris is an all-rounder, he is a very hard puncher and a veteran. He added that he had to change a lot and do a lot to win this match. He recalled how he hit his lowest sometime ago and how he came back from that.
Andy Ruiz is thankful for this victory. He is eager to fight his next match. Although the scores of the judges suggested that it was a pretty dominant match by Andy Ruiz, the match was not in the truth!
