Anthony Davis leaves the game with a stomach illness while Westbrook shot one from 13 and score only 8 pts.

The last week had not been kind to the LA Lakers. They learned that LeBron James would be out for a week with a strain to his abdomen and later had blown a 19pts lead to the OKC Thunder. Their bad times had not ended as it trickled on to Saturday.

Anthony Davis Issue Has Hurt The Lakers

The Lakers had traveled to Portland without James to play against the Trail Blazers, who had won 4 in a row at home. It was never going to be easy for them. The game was winnable and was the best situation for Anthony Davis to be in. Russell Westbrook and Davis had their chance to take the burden off James, but they just did the opposite. They were not competitive at all and trailed as much as 34 and eventually lost 105-90.

The Blazers had a double-digit lead by the middle of the first quarter, and with 4:51 left in the opening frame, the Lakers had to take Anthony Davis out because he wasn’t feeling well. Any sort of illness is a cause for concern these days, especially with multiple players entering the health and safety protocols in the past week.

Frank Vogel stated that Anthony Davis woke up with a stomach bug. His thumb felt pretty good and he wanted to give it a go. He wanted to see if getting out on the floor would change it but wasn’t able to go.

Thankfully, the Lakers said Anthony Davis is suffering from a stomach bug that is not COVID-related. When he’s able to return to the lineup remains to be seen, but the initial takeaway is that it shouldn’t be a long-term issue.
