It was during the interview for one of her songs, We Belong. The video involves a scene where a couple belongs to the same-sex gets cozy.
Dove Cameron On Her Struggles
The American actress appeared in one of the magazines specifically of the community called the “Gay Times.” It was for the summer issue. Dove Cameron expressed some of her intimate feelings over the personal battle she faced. It was stated that she was in a dilemma as to whether she should reveal her identity or not during the release of her song. And the reason for this was because she was not sure if people would keep loving her the way they do. She was nervous.
The 25-year-old Dove Cameron claimed that she always made efforts to reveal her sexuality for all these years, all the while fearing the outcome. She also stated that there was never a time when she doubted her sexuality. She always knew that she belonged to the community of LGBTQ.
The singer also shared a horrible incident she had to go through during the release of the video of “We Belong,” She stated that she had been a victim of accusations according to which she used the strategy of attracting the people of the community for the marketing of her song. Dove Cameron is not the first one to face the accusations. Other singers include Harry Styles and Nick Jonas. The singer has been in relationships with males before including Thomas Doherty, the actor. They dated from the year 2016 to 2020. It had been a public relationship.
