Emma Raducanu arrived at the tournament and had lost her way in the huge ground. She has grown really well over the last 3 weeks and went further after producing an excellent performance which helped her reach the Grand Slam Finals.

Emma Raducanu has dreamt of this moment for her whole life and handled this with great composure. She defeated Maria Sakkari 6-1, 6-4.

Raducanu is the first qualifier to reach a slam final in the Open era. She is also the first Brit lady to reach the final since Wade won at Wimbledon (1977). Raducanu is only 18 and is one step away from achieving a great feat.

The Final Is The Next Stop For Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu will face Leylah Annie Fernandez, 19 in the final. Fernandez beat Aryna Sabalenka  7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-4 to qualify for the finals. This will be the first time 2 teenagers meet at a slam final after Serena Williams met Martina Hingis in 1999 at the US Open.

Sakkari is considered to be one of the best servers and the most athletic player on tour. She had unfinished business as she faltered the last time in her semi-final against Krejcikova.

Over the first 2 games, Emma Raducanu faced 7 break points but she demonstrated her rigidity by saving all of them and broke the lead to  3-0. Sakkari struggled to find her tempo while Raducanu grew. She seemed to occupy every part of the court, neutralizing Sakkari’s shots with her movement and flipped from offense to defense.

Sakkari sprayed unforced errors and found herself 5-0 down before Emma Raducanu tidily closed off the first set.

Raducanu is already ranked as 31 in the live table and is going to face Fernandez, who is the youngest woman t reach a final after Sharapova in 2004.
