Webb’s effective pitching, Yastrzemski’s homers, and Duggar’s 2-triples helped the Giants beat Rockies 12-3 on Tuesday.
Crawford added 3 more hits and also an RBI. All the hits from Duggar went for extra bases and he drove in 3 runs. Mike Yastrzemski added a single in the 9th while finishing it with 3 RBIs. All these things played a role to help the Giants win their 5th game out of 6.
CJ Cron got an RBI double for the Rockies while their pinch-hitters Fuentes and Ruiz added RBI singles.
The Things That Helped Giants Crush The Rockies
Webb who was at 9-3, allowed 3 runs on 9 hits and helped to strike out 6. He just missed out on extending his 14 consecutive starts where he allowed 2 or fewer runs. The second inning saw him help himself with a double RBI.
Colorado managed to get on the board in the 4th with Cron’s double. Theteam managed to counter it with 3 on the 5th (Duggar’s bases-loaded triple). Longoria had a run-scoring fielder’s choice before Yastrzemski’s home run off Fernandez. This homer was his 22nd in this season which marked his best in his career. This was also high for the Giants who are leading the NL with 207 home runs. The Giants had previously hit 235 homers in 2001 and this year they have already reached quite close to it.
The team hit Chi Chi Gonzalez (3-7) hard, tagging him for 5 runs on 8t hits before being lifted in favor of Goudeau with 2 out in the 2nd.
The first 3 batters Gonzalez faced, La Stella, Belt, and Posey doubled, and Crawford managed to add another one-out RBI single to put the Giants up 3-0. Webb doubled that after Duggar’s 1st triple in the second, and La Stella’s RBI single gave the Giants a 5-0 lead.
