The national Treasury Department of the United States of America is making efforts to honor Harriet Tubman, the great American abolitionist. She was a political activist who freed a number of people who were enslaved.

The department is trying to get the picture of Harriet Tubman printed on the 20 USD bill. this effort comes after the same had been delayed by the administration of the former president of the United States of America, Donald Trump. The administration put an infinite delay on the decision in the year 2019.

Harriet Tubman On $20 Bill

The Secretary of Press of the White House, Jen Psaki, gave a statement with regard to honoring Harriet Tubman. It was told that the Treasury Department was working towards establishing the picture of the American abolitionist in one of the currency notes of the country. This statement came on Monday.

Jen Psaki also added that it was necessary for the money and the notes of the US to be a reflection of the broad history and the diverse culture of the country. And so, the picture of Harriet Tubman on the $20 note, would serve that necessity.

According to sources, a spokesperson from the Treasury Department gave a statement on the importance of the legacy of the great abolitionist. It was mentioned that she is a figure to be looked upon, in order to get inspiration for leadership and also to uphold the democratic nature of the country.

The effort of reigniting celebrating Harriet Tubman comes after the announcement of Steve Mnuchin, the former secretary of the Treasury. He made it known that the redesigning of the dollar bill, which was earlier proposed by the former President, Barack Obama, would be discontinued under the administration of the then President, Donald Trump.
