The Terminator franchise is arguably one of the most iconic to have ever been created. Its popularity has been felt for decades, with it still being enjoyed by people from recent generations, as well as those that grew up with them.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s portrayal of the T-800 cyborg has gone down in movie history as one of the best, with many enjoying the various quotes that he says throughout the series. Lines such as “I’ll be back,” and “Hasta la vista, baby” have been ingrained in the minds of many; even those that have never even seen the movies to have been released.
Those that have not seen the movies or the TV shows that have been released may find it difficult to know where to begin on their journey and catch up with almost the entire world’s population.
Start with the original
James Cameron’s 1984 release of “The Terminator” was the first installment of this franchise, and it is the best place for anyone who is planning to watch them to begin their journey. It gives viewers an insight into what the rest of the series is all about, while also introducing them to each of the characters that were created.
Schwarzenegger, as mentioned, played the role of the T-800 cyborg, while Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn portrayed the characters of Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, respectively. These two characters are central to the story.
Watch the sequels in order
With various different sequels to have been created following the huge success of the original, it would only be wise to watch them all in the order that they were released. Viewers who do this will be able to understand the story better.
The 1991 release, “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”, is actually widely considered to be one of the best movies of all time as a sequel. The film continues to feature the three characters, while John Connor (played by Edward Furlong) is included with Schwarzenegger’s cyborg reprogrammed to protect him.
The film was such a success, it became a huge part of pop culture for so many. Arnie’s popularity skyrocketed even further, while the series enjoyed huge success with a number of spin-offs being created. Books, TV shows, and even games were created.
The iGaming industry got involved as a Terminator series was created and launched and added to a vast collection of movie-inspired slots, including Gladiator, Jurassic Park, King Kong Cash, and others. If you want to try your luck at these movie-themed slots, you can use the 32Red bonus, which can offer a number of perks such as bonus spins. Playing the slot title could also enhance the viewing experience of the cult classic, too.
“Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” (2003) and “Terminator Salvation” (2009), both follow in the list of sequels, with each of these based on John Connor’s fight with Skynet. Unfortunately, many believe they suffered the same fate as other sequels and did not live up to the hype and perhaps could have been avoided. Nonetheless, they still offer a great way to enjoy the series.
Watch the TV series
If you cannot get enough of the movie franchise, then it could be worth taking an interest in the TV series that was produced. There were two series consisting of a total of 31 episodes and these were initially aired in 2008 and 2009. They focused on the characters of Sarah and John Connor, with T-900 (“Cameron”) being played by Summer Glau.
These shows were a great way for fans of the series to get even more out of it, especially as they can provide a little more and give some further depth to some of the stories that were created.
The Terminator franchise is a must watch
Everybody knows that The Terminator series is an iconic franchise, and it is hardly a surprise that so many are looking for the ultimate way to enjoy the stories that have been created, despite being decades old.
The best way is to watch the films in chronological order and then the TV shows, as viewers will then be able to follow in order and have a greater understanding of what is happening throughout.
