To call him, utter his name three times. Michael Keaton returns in Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” as everyone’s favorite boisterous spirit.
The 1988 cult classic’s sequel was teased in two images posted by Warner Bros. One of the images had the “Batman” actor wearing a striped black-and-white outfit and frizzy hair. Fans experienced a wave of nostalgia as they saw the celebrity resembling his spectral self. A picture of “Schitt’s Creek” actress Catherine O’Hara and “Stranger Things” star Winona Ryder, together with newcomers Justin Theroux (“The Leftovers”) and Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”), was also released by the studio.
Who Are ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’s’ Characters?
O’Hara will return to portray Lydia Deetz’s mother, Delia Deetz, while Ryder will take on the title role once more. Astrid, Lydia’s daughter, will be portrayed by Ortega, who gained expertise in haunted roles when he played Wednesday Addams in Burton’s Netflix series. Theroux will portray Rory, however not much is known about his character. Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci will also feature in the movie. In November, the “Spiderman” actor revealed to Variety that he is portraying an afterlife police officer and former B-movie action hero.
Keaton is joining the franchise again after playing Batman in DC’s “The Flash” the previous year. The Deetz family will be followed in “Beetlejuice 2” when a death causes Beetlejuice to reappear. The original movie centers on the late Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin as Barbara and Adam Maitland, who employ the titular demon to drive the Deetz family from their house.
