Owing to this, the Democratic Governor, Jared Polis, took an action on the legislation.

The members of the Democratic party who have control over both the Senate and the Colorado House worked for the passage of both the bills. It was done this month. It is to be noted that there was no support from the members of the Republican party with regard to the laws, neither in the state nor in the state House.

The name of the Senate Bill 78 got changed. It was renamed Isabella Joy Thallas Act. This action was taken in order for the victim of the shooting that took place in Denver in the year 2020. The casualty was 21 years old. As per the Jared Polis approved the law, the gun owner must report on losing the gun. And the report cannot be made after five days of the loss incident. Jared Polis gave a statement with regard to the newly introduced laws. He stated that the laws in question can safeguard the lives of the people from any such incidents. He addressed the fact that the people who lost their lives cannot be brought back. The statement came in this Monday.
