iCarly star Jennette McCurdy has made the revelation over her decision to retire from acting. The reason came out on an episode of Anna Faris’ podcast fish out of water, which aired on February 24th. McCurdy had played the role of Sam in iCarly.

The Influence That Led To Jennette McCurdy Acting

In the podcast, Jennette McCurdy talks about how her going into acting was not her choice at all. She says it was her mother’s, and by the time she was 10, she was the breadwinner of the family. So acting provided this way out in terms of finances and so she stuck with it. Reflecting back on it, she thinks of the decision to have helped her attain whatever success she has right now.

However, when her mother died, McCurdy says that her desire to stay and prosper in acting died with her. It was a difficult time for her, however, she thought of her mother’s wishes as a different adventure that had to come to an end.

The revelation comes as Paramount+ is going to film a revival of iCarly. The show will see many of her former colleagues recast in their roles. Fans were wondering whether Jennette McCurdy would reprise her role as well.

Adding to her mother’s death, McCurdy has also revealed how she is embarrassed by her childhood work. She said that she resents lots of scenes that she was a part of as Sam. The character was seen with odd appearances and involved in confusing acts regularly.

As it stands, although McCurdy has stepped out of the spotlight, she has also admitted that she has no intention of leaving the industry. Currently, she revealed that she is creating a one-woman show where she will be featuring as the director and the writer.
