Maria Taylor Switches To NBC For The Olympic Coverage

Maria Taylor decided to part ways with ESPN recently. The journalist was confirmed to be reporting for NBC at the Tokyo Olympics. Taylor who is of 34 years of age worked for ESPN. In a recent development, recordings of Rachael Nichols were leaked. She accused ESPN of being partial towards Taylor. This seems to be the reason for Taylor’s decision to switch companies. 

Maria Taylor Confirms Resignation For ESPN, Recent Controversy The Culprit? 

Maria Taylor was confirmed to be covering the Olympics for NBC. This puts an end to all the speculations of whether the host will leave ESPN or not. Maria & Nichols were involved in a huge controversy recently. A call recording of Nichols got leaked. She was heard accusing ESPN of being partial. She claimed that Taylor got to host the NBA finals just because of her skin color. This created a huge controversy. Although Nichols instantly apologized, it seems Taylor did not like it at all. 

Taylor is expected to begin coverage for the NBC from this Friday. As the news circulated, both the chairman(ESPN) Jimmy Pitaro & Taylor were quick to respond. Jimmy stated that the whole unit will be missing an efficient co-worker like Maria. He also wished her good luck in her future endeavors. Taylor thanked all his fellow mates at ESPN. 

Taylor is likely to replace Mike Tirico as the host to ” Football Night In America”. The news is not yet confirmed but it seems a probability. She could also have a run at the season of football in Notre Dame. 

With Maria gone, ESPN has her place to fill. However, it has been confirmed that Nichols will not be considered as a replacement. Maria Taylor was offered a price hike by ESPN. The network wanted her services, but Taylor did not seem too keen on the negotiation.
