Novak Djokovic Defeats Wawrinka Before Curfew; Murray At The End Of The Road At Wimbledon

The Wimbledon 2023 is the biggest and one of the most anticipated sporting events that is presently ongoing. This latest edition of Wimbledon has recently seen the top seed, Novak Djokovic, getting through to the 4th round for consecutively 15 times. Novak Djokovic has successfully and quite easily defeated Stan Wawrinka on Friday, 7th July 2023. 

Stan Wawrinka and Novak Djokovic are old rivals and the latter achieved an easy win with three straight wins. On the other hand, Andy Murray lost the match to Stefanos Tsitsipas during the match that went beyond the curfew. Murray even hinted at his end of playing time at the Club of All England. 

Novak Djokovic Seeking World Record 

At this moment, Novak Djokovic is the world number 2 and will now gear up to face Hubert Hurkacz, a Polish tennis star. Djokovic is seeking the world record to equal Roger Federer’s 8th Wimbledon title. In addition, Djokovic is also looking to win the 24th Grand Slam title in his illustrious career. He defeated Wawrinka, a 38-year-old tennis player, with a straight set and completed the match before the curfew. 

Wimbledon Fever Takes Over The World 

On Friday, Novak Djokovic won 21 out of 27 face-offs against Wawrinka who is a 3-time world champion. During the post-match interview, Djokovic praised Wawrinka who played well considering his age. He further added that he has great respect for his opponent. 

One of the most highly anticipated matches in Wimbledon is going to be between Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz who is currently world number one. 

However. Andy Murray faces heartbreak after losing to Tsitsipas. Murray also hinted to the fact that this might be his last Wimbledon presence as a player.
