Rapper Biz Markie Is Alive: Manager Refutes His Rumors Of His Demise

NYC Rapper Biz Markie’s manager refuted reports of his death and said Wednesday that he remains under the best possible professional medical care.

With rumors spreading online of Biz Markie’s demise, his manager had to step in and confirm that the hip-hop and rap artist is alive.

Manager Jenni Izumi told NBC News that the 57-year old artist and actor was alive and rumors surrounding his death were not true.

Biz Markie remains under constant medical care though details have not emerged yet on his ailment. Born Marcel Theo Hall, Biz Markie was hospitalized twice in 2020 due to diabetic complications.

Biz Markie Recovering From A Diabetic Stroke: Big Daddy Kane

Details of his past condition were revealed by Big Daddy Kane in April when he spoke at The Breakfast Club, the hip-hop show to reveal that Biz Markie was recovering after suffering a stroke. He had reported that Markie was in rehab but was recovering.

Markie was identified with diabetes (type 2) back in 2010. He reportedly lost 140 pounds 3 years later. He had said in 2014 that the only way he could get better was by losing weight. But he also talked about losing his feet.

NBA journalist, Brandon Robinson said that a family member had told him that Markie had suffered extensive brain damage.  He added that members of his inner circle fear that he might not make it through the weekend.

Markie was hospitalized in 2020 though details of his illness are unknown. His representative has said that they remain optimistic about his outcome.

Their family and friends were moved by the love, his representative said. They asked his fans to keep him in their prayers and thoughts as they go through a difficult period.

Markie is famous for his 1989 album, ‘Just A Friend’ which peaked at No.9 on the Billboard chart. He has appeared in several films and TV shows including Men In Black II. He was born in Harlem and released his debut album, Goin’ Off a year earlier. It included the hit single, Make Music With Your Mouth.
