Hundreds of residents were chosen through a lottery method to receive up to $400 each month. The Chelsea Eats program provides monthly subsidies to 738 residents of Chelsea, Massachusetts. The payments are meant to assist low-income households in meeting rising living expenses such as food and electricity.

The American Rescue Plan Act, President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion economic Stimulus Check plan signed into law in 2021, allocated $800,000 to assist the initiative. Payments are determined by the size of the household. Stimulus Checks will be made with a pre-loaded debit card that must be picked up in person.

How Much Are The Stimulus Check Payments?

The funds were disbursed on March 15 of last month and are expected to be disbursed again this month. Another payment will be made in May.

This program’s application procedure had stringent income qualification requirements. A similar program is offering $500 monthly rewards in Sacramento, California. The United Way California Capital Area launched the guaranteed income program in partnership with the city.

During the first phase, which ends in May, 100 houses got $300 monthly payments for a year. Applications are now available for the second phase, which will provide $500 per month for a year to 80 families.

Residents who meet the eligibility requirements can apply online through April 15 at 2:59 a.m. This round of payments will begin on July 1. Meanwhile, another universal basic income program known as BIG:LEAP is nearing the end of its payouts.

More than 3,200 people in Los Angeles were given $1,000 every month for a year.

Around $38.4 million was granted in total to assist low-income people with meeting basic needs such as rent, utilities, and medical bills.
