Many Americans find the cost of a gallon of petrol to be intolerably high. There are several locations where gas prices exceed $6 per gallon, however, it varies by state and location.
The situation has grown so terrible that the American government is attempting to intervene by providing Stimulus Checks. Thompson mentioned the Russian invasion of Ukraine as the cause for increasing costs. Similar to stimulus checks during the COVID outbreak, there are discussions for a gas stimulus check to provide Americans with respite. Sadly, the group was unable to get enough support in Congress, and as a result, the idea is currently in limbo. Congress may still feel the effects of the COVID stimulus and be hesitant to implement another package.
Certain States Will Send Gas Rebate Stimulus Check
According to the Gas Rebate Act of 2022, certain Americans would get a $100 check for each month that remains in the year during which the national average gas price exceeds $4 per gallon. If you have dependents, you could also get an additional $100.
There may be a sliding scale based on your income, with those making less than $75,000 annually receiving the whole $100. If your income is more than that, you will receive less of the rebate stimulus check.
Here is how the compensation would be determined by the proposed legislation: for single filers making less than $75,000, $100, increasing gradually to $80,000. Joint filers who make less than $150,000 per year pay $100, with a phase-out at $160,000. Even though the anticipated Gas Rebate Act of 2022 has not yet been implemented, some states have still introduced their relief initiatives.
A gas tax holiday has been considered by various states as a way to ease some of the strain and lower costs. For instance, California and five other states have temporarily eliminated the 13 percent sales tax on fuel.
