Tampa Bay Lightning repeated their splendid performance from the last season as they clinched the title once again. The win guaranteed them as only the ninth one to win the Stanley Cup back to back.

The team registered their second successful run as the champions at the Stanley Cup on Wednesday. As they thumped their opponents in a 1-0 victory, the tournament saw a team repeat the feat of being the back-to-back champions after 5 years.

Tampa Bay Lightning Cruise Past Montreal Canadiens To Register A 1-0 Victory

The Pittsburgh Penguins achieved this in the sessions of 2016 & 2017. The victory for the Tampa Bay Lightning seemed even sweeter as the stadium had an in-person attendance. The celebration of the Tampa Bay Lightning grew out of bounds in front of their supporters. The players and support staff were equally elated.

The main highlight of the evening was the Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy. He performed outstandingly well as he prevented all of the 22 hurlers directed at him. His fantastic performance meant that he kept his sheet clean for the fifth time in a row. Vasilevskiy was fittingly presented with the MVP award.

Coming in as a substitute for the injured Alex Killorn, Ross Colton made the most of his outing. It was Colton’s goal that clinched the prestigious trophy for the Tampa Bay Lightning. The team of the Canadiens though did make a fine comeback in the tournament. After their dismal performance earlier, playing the final was quite commendable for them. After thumping the 5 match series 4-1 in their favor, Tampa Bay Lightning are expected to reappear as strong contenders at the Atlantic in the coming season.
