Tiffany Haddish was detained early this Friday morning in Peachtree City, GA for reportedly driving under the influence.
The Peachtree City Police Department verified the actress, aged 42, was arrested, to various news outlets on Friday.
Tiffany Haddish Was Asleep Behind The Wheel
Officers were responding to a complaint of a driver falling asleep at the wheel at approximately 2:30 a.m. ET, according to the police department’s statement.
Tiffany Haddish was detained on a DUI charge early Friday morning in Georgia, officials confirmed to Insider, after cops discovered her sleeping behind the wheel.
Close to 2:30 a.m. on Friday, a Peachtree City Police Department officer responded to a complaint regarding a female driver who probably had fallen asleep behind the wheel, according to law enforcement officials. As the car pulled into the yard of a neighboring property, the officer noticed a vehicle matching the illustration from the report and performed a traffic closure.
According to the statement, Haddish was detained for driving while being under the effect of drugs. She was then sent to Fayette County Jail.
TMZ was the first to disclose Haddish’s arrest. Officers told the news organization that she had used marijuana.
According to documents acquired by TMZ, she was held for a few hours until posting $1,666 of her bond and being released at 6:30 am local time.
Tiffany Haddish’s representatives did not make any public remarks.
According to TMZ, the comedian has been going through a hard patch recently due to the death of her grandma, who raised her. She also lost her dog and two close friends, Carl Craig, and Bob Saget.
Despite Tiffany Haddish’s professional achievements, she recently said that losses in her personal life have been taking their toll.
