Trump, E Jean Carroll Attorneys Dispute Evidence And Character In Final Arguments

E Jean Carroll

The defamation and civil battery trial of E Jean Carroll against former president Donald Trump had its closing arguments stated as it neared the conclusion on May 8th. Carroll’s attorney stated in front of a New York federal jury that no person is beyond the law. Trump’s lawyer, on the other hand, beseeched them to not let any negative sentiments towards the ex-president color their verdict.

Final Statements Of The E Jean Carroll

Roberta Kaplan, the attorney of E Jean Carroll, said that in the United States, the court can hold even the most powerful people accountable. As such, no one, including an ex-president, can be beyond the law. Joe Tacopina, the attorney representing Donald Trump, said he is aware of the divisive nature of Trump. However, that should not be a factor for jurors while debating the verdict.

Tacopina stated that Donald Trump is a name that elucidates strong feelings from people, obviously. However, the place and time for that is the election ballot box. He added that the other side wants the jurors to hate Trump so much that they would ignore facts since every piece of objective evidence is against E Jean Carroll.

E Jean Carroll was previously a columnist in a magazine. She had alleged that she was the victim of rape at the hands of Donal Trump in the department store of Bergdorf Goodman in 1996 spring. She also alleged that Trump had then proceeded to defame Carroll.

Trump had denied E Jean Carroll’s claim by saying she did not fit his preferences and suggested Carroll fabricated the story so that her book sold better. Trump remains in denial of every wrongdoing. Both sides’ attorneys concluded their cases on May 4th.
