Capitals do not seem to have gotten out of the darkness. The team has yet again lost their match. It has been quite a while since the team has tasted victory. However, they are one of the most dominant forces of the tournament. The NHL has seen many splendid performances from the team in the past. They seem to have hit a rough patch.

The team has kept losing one game after the other. What is more painful is the margin by which they have lost it. A number of games were decided right after the end of the stipulated minutes. Their recent outing was no different. The Capitals once again lost their match in the extra time. They suffered a defeat at the hands of the Ducks while the score read 3-2. Another narrow defeat meant more heartbreak for the side. Let us learn more about the match in detail below.

Capitals Defeated By The Ducks

Ask the Capitals about bad luck. The team has entered the extra time for five matches this season. Ironically, they have lost all their five encounters. The latest defeat came at the hands of the Ducks. The game was scheduled in Anaheim’s Honda Center. The game was played with great spirits right from the word go. Both the teams stuck to their plans and were tied at the end of the stipulated time.

Trevor Zegras of the Ducks shone brightly in the dying minutes of the match. His brilliant shot deflected off Vitek Vanecek’s gloves and gave them the lead. The Capitals had their worries right from the start. Their first choice Lars Eller had to be left out due to covid concerns. Garrett Pilon was included in the list instead. Pilon justified his selection by scoring his maiden goal of the tournament.
