Cindy Williams’ Death: Celebrities Are Posting Tributes and Memoirs

Celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to beloved actress and entertainer Cindy Williams, who passed away at the age of 74 on Wednesday.

Williams was best known for her role as Shirley Feeney in the iconic 1970s sitcom Laverne & Shirley, which ran for eight seasons and earned her two Golden Globe nominations. She also starred in the movie American Graffiti and appeared in a number of TV shows and films throughout her career.

In a statement sent through their family spokesman Liza Cranis, Williams’ children Zak and Emily Hudson announced their mother’s passing on Wednesday after a brief illness.

Stars Are Bidding Goodbye to Cindy Williams

Friends and co-stars, including Penny Marshall and Michael McKean, shared their condolences on social media.

Marshall, who starred with Williams in Laverne & Shirley, tweeted, “Cindy Williams was an incredible person. I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to have worked with her and to have known her.”

McKean, who worked with Williams on Laverne & Shirley, commented, “Cindy was not only a hugely talented actress but also a great friend and a kind and generous human being.”

Other celebrities, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Billy Crystal, and Henry Winkler, shared their memories of Williams, praising her as a remarkable actress and a wonderful person.

“Cindy Williams was a beautiful soul,” Curtis tweeted. “We were blessed to have her in our lives.”

Crystal wrote, “Cindy Williams was a delight. I had the pleasure of working with her in a movie many years ago and she was so funny, so kind and such a pro.”

Winkler shared a touching tribute on Instagram, writing, “Cindy Williams … what a blessing she was to all of us who knew her … and to those who only knew her work … I am so grateful to have had a friend like her.”

Williams will be remembered for her iconic role in Laverne & Shirley, as well as for her sparkling personality and many accomplishments throughout her career.
