The magnificent Portuguese continues to make footballing history. Playing as a forward for Serie A’s Juventus, Ronaldo has become the top scorer in Italy’s top flight. With the achievement, he also becomes the only one to have done so in La Liga and the EPL as well.
Ronaldo Conquers Serie A As Well
Cristiano Ronaldo, now 36, had a disappointing season in Serie A with Juventus. The Bianconeri scraped to a fourth-place finish for the season. Inter Milan became the champions after Juventus dominating the competition for nine years.
This is Ronaldo’s third year in Italy. In the 2018-2019 season, Ronaldo had already won his first Serie A by scoring 21 goals. However, that season, Fabio Quagliarella ended up with the golden boot having scored 5 more than Ronaldo. The next season, he netted 31 goals. But the Serie A golden boot eluded him once more as Ciro Immobile scored 5 more once again. Immobile had also won Europe’s Golden Shoe that season.
By now, Ronaldo has 81 goals in the Serie A to his name and has played in 97 matches. For Juventus, he has scored 101 goals in 133 appearances. He had also been awarded the league’s Footballer of the Year in 2020 and 2019.
In 2007-2008, Ronaldo was the top scorer in the Premier League with a score of 31. That was also the year he won the Ballon d’Or for the first time. Then in Real Madrid, he became the highest scorer three times. The first was in the 2010-2011 season with a score of 40. However, Barcelona had won the domestic league that season.
Cristiano is the highest scorer in the history of the Champions League as well with a score of 134. Furthermore, he has been the highest scorer in seven different seasons. No other player is close.
