France won the Nations League final against Spain, by 2-1. Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe scored the goals for France, at the San Siro Stadium on Sunday.

France struggled to get into the game in the first half. Spain scored the opening goal through Mikel Oyarzabal, which was when the French came to life.

Paul Pogba Was Excellent For France

Paul Pogba played brilliantly in the midfield while Mbappe’s pace helped stretching the Spanish defense. Karim Benzema kept piling up intense pressure as the French were victorious.

Benzema stated that they showed their character against a strong team and did not give up. They chose not to panic and patiently waited for the right time.

The young Spain side beat Italy in the semis by playing their trademark possession football with precision. They did the same on Sunday but could not attack enough, due to the lack of a genuine striker.

Aymeric Laporte stated that the defeat was quite difficult to digest. He added that their team was young and played better football than France but in the end, the results went in the opposite direction.

The French were disrupted due to the loss of Raphael Varane in the defense because of an injury.

Both the teams played well after half-time. Theo Hernandez shot the ball, which hit the underside of the bar after a quick counterattack.

Spain responded by scoring their only goal of the match. Oyarzabal held off Upamecano and drilled the ball into the bottom corner.

France was quick to respond when Benzema cut inside and hit a curling shot into the far corner.

Mbappe grabbed the winner for France after he caught a through ball from Hernandez and slotted it past the Spanish goalkeeper.
