Google will let employees work from home until at least next summer

According to a spokesperson from Google, employees will be allowed to work from home until July of 2021. This in contrast with the earlier report which claimed that Google would allow most employees to work from home throughout the year, but some may have to come back earlier.

Goes without saying, if the world’s biggest company believes that working from home would be beneficial for both the company and the employees, one can be assured that other companies would be following suit. A memo circulating the employees stated that Google had opened 42 of its offices worldwide, but a large number of its offices remain shut.

‘To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we’ll be extending our global voluntary work from home option through June 30, 2021 for roles that don’t need to be in the office,’- Pichai mentioned in the memo. He asked his employees to take care of themselves and their families in these troubling times.

This tech giant has led most of the tech companies around the world to allow their workers to work from home indefinitely- like Facebook and Twitter.
