Yoon Suk Yeol, the president of South Korea, is now on a six-day state visit to the US. On April 25, Yeol came, and boy did he arrive with a bang! Joe Biden sang the Don McLean classic “American Pie” at the glitzy state banquet given to him and his wife Kim Keon Hee. Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, TV couple Chip and Joanna Gaines, and Hollywood celebrity Angelina Jolie, who purchased her son Maddox Jolie-Pitt, also made an appearance at the meal.

Joe Biden and Suk Yeol presented a new strategy to tackle North Korea’s nuclear threat earlier in the day.

Joe Biden And Yoon Suk Yeol Become Allies

“Our mutual defense treaty is ironclad, and that includes our commitment to extend deterrence – and that includes the nuclear threat, the nuclear deterrent,” Joe Biden said during a White House joint news conference.

North Korea has performed about ten missile tests since the beginning of this year, with around a dozen launched in March alone. According to the agreement reached between Seoul and Washington, strategic assets such as a US nuclear ballistic submarine visit to South Korea, something that hasn’t taken place since the early 1980s, will be deployed on a regular basis.

It should be mentioned that Lee Myung-bak traveled to the US in 2011 and was the most recent South Korean president to do so. Additionally, this is Biden and Suk Yeol’s third one-on-one meeting, and it comes shortly after another nuclear-powered missile test by North Korea.

Suk Yeol stated that the righteous alliance’s new commitment includes preparations for bilateral presidential discussions in the event of a nuclear assault by North Korea. Additionally, it calls for the creation of a nuclear consultative group and improved information exchange regarding operational plans for nuclear and strategic weapons.
