PSG is asking Fifa to intervene in the Argentina call-up for Lionel Messi. Leonardo, the club’s sporting director has called the action “illogical”.
Lionel Messi is currently in rehab for his knee pain and is unavailable for PSG but has been called by the Argentina National Team to complete his international duties.
PSG Wants Fifa To Step In Such Debates
Leonardo has stated that they do not agree to let a player go by selection who is not in a proper and fit condition and is in the rehabilitation phase. He added that such a thing was not logical and these issues need to have a real agreement with Fifa.
Lionel Messi has missed a major chunk of this season for PSG with injuries and is still waiting for his first goal in Ligue 1. He has still been present for Argentina though, helping them with their campaign to qualify for the 2022 World Cup being held in Qatar.
The debate for the country versus the club has been on for years and PSG is not the only team concerned about their player.
Thomas Tuchel is worried that the USMNT will overutilize Christian Pulisic, who had just returned to the club after recovering from an ankle injury.
The Chelsea boss stated that he hoped they do not “overuse” him. Pulisic is still not fit for matches. He has tried really hard but it is still painful for him. He had started against Malmo and had a solid 10 minutes against Burnley. Everyone is still worried about his fitness.
