A group of political leaders made the reintroduction of an important resolution on the floor of the White House. It was done by Chuck Schumer from New York, who is the top Democrat of the Senate, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and other legislators from the Democratic party. This took place this Thursday. The resolution that got introduced was regarding student loan forgiveness. They recommended the White House to let go of a total of 50,000 USD in student debt. This was to be done for those borrowers by the action of the executive.
Student Loan Forgiveness, A Bold Decision
Chuck Schumer gave a statement with regard to the student loan forgiveness. He said that the authorities are needed to deliver relief to the citizens of America, so as to better the economic conditions of the country. And also, to balance the wealth gap that lies among the different communities of race. The Democrat also mentioned the crisis that has prevailed in this decade, has had a major impact on the communities of color.
He went on to say that the Democratic party is willing to take some bold actions as they are committed towards work for the nation. And the student loan forgiveness resolution was one of such actions. It was in fact, one of the boldest decisions that can be taken by the president. Schumer said that canceling the total amount of 50,000 USD in the federal debt would go a long way in helping the nation.
The same resolution had been introduced in the year 2020 by a bunch of representatives. It was done so on the floor of the US House of Representatives. The ones to do it were Mondaire Jones, Ayanna Pressley, and Ilhan Omar.
