Actor Elliot Page has recently declared divorce from spouse Emma Portner after three years of marriage. Elliot and Emma also announced that the decision of divorce is mutual and they are still going to remain friends. On Tuesday, the couple announced that after attentive consideration and discussion they have made the decision.
Portner Was Supportive At The Time Of Elliot Page’s Revelation
Page, the actor of Juno and Umbrella Academy, married Emma Portner in 2018. In 2017, Page introduced Portner as his lover in a social media post. Portner, who hails from Ottawa, is a Broadway Dance Center teacher. When Elliot came out as a transgender, Portner has been seen as his constant support. Page declared to be a transgender man and expressed his gratitude towards the transgender community. He said that he is immensely inspired by the people of the community. He soon revealed his name ‘Elliot’and his preferred pronouns as ‘he’ or ‘they’.
Page also added that he finds it extremely beautiful to finally be his authentic self in front of the whole world. Page stated that he will continue to take necessary steps to build an equal, loving, and compassionate world.
Soon after Page’s revelation, Portner expressed her love and affection for Elliot on social media posts. In one of her posts, Emma wrote that she is extremely proud of Elliot Page. She requested privacy and patience from everyone and to unite together to support the transgender community in their daily struggles.
Actor Elliot Page was nominated for Oscar for his acclaimed role in the film Juno. Elliot and Emma remained married for three years. After being separated last summer, they now decide to have a legal divorce.
