Twitter CEO, Elon Musk commented on the ongoing China-U.S. tensions and stated that it should concern people. His statement is related to Taiwan being declared under the defense of the U.S. by President Joe Biden a year ago if China strikes the island. China has claimed the island nation to be a part of its territory, while Taiwan protests being a sovereign nation. This has stirred a rise in tension between China and the U.S.
Elon Musk was asked in an interview by David Faber of CNBC, about the growing China-U.S. tensions, to which Musk has commented, that it should concern all. Speaking on the Chinese taking over Taiwan and how it would affect his company Tesla among others, he stated that the global economy and the Chinese economy are interconnected like conjoined twins and it is extremely difficult to split it up. Which would adversely affect other companies as it will Tesla.
Elon Musk Is Worried About The Tension Situations
Elon Musk said that he is not sure where one will get an iPhone, giving an example of the effect of the U.S.-China tensions. He also spoke of constraints regarding the growth of Tesla, and that his company is manufacturing as many vehicles as possible, however, it is not an issue of demand. He said that Tesla depends upon the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd. for the production of processors. Apple too depends on it, as they have taken decisions to shift the production of the iPhone 14 from China, reducing manufacturing dependency on India. Musk has stated when asked if China absorbs Taiwan, that Chinese threats should be taken seriously and it is their policy.
