Filming alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet might sound like a dream come true, but for Jennifer Lawrence, it was far from it. In the Netflix hit “Don’t Look Up,” where Lawrence, DiCaprio, and Chalamet starred alongside Jonah Hill and Meryl Streep, the experience was marked by what Lawrence describes as ‘absolute misery.’
Jennifer Lawrence Faces Challenges While Filming
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic added to the challenges, with the cast’s limited social interactions heightening tensions. Lawrence recounted a particularly trying day on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” where she described filming a scene with DiCaprio and Chalamet as the “most annoying day” of her life. She expressed frustration, citing DiCaprio’s choice of music and Chalamet’s enthusiasm as irritants. Despite acknowledging their niceness, Lawrence confessed to feeling miserable that day.
But Lawrence’s challenges didn’t end there. She also revealed to Vanity Fair that Jonah Hill made filming difficult, albeit in a different way. His impeccable comedic timing led to numerous retakes due to laughter on set, especially during improvised insult scenes. Despite the struggles, Lawrence remained starstruck by the ensemble cast, which included Mark Rylance, Ariana Grande, Cate Blanchett, and Chris Evans.
Reflecting on her experience, Lawrence humorously remarked feeling like “garbage” among such luminaries but expressed gratitude for the opportunity. Despite the difficulties, Lawrence’s honesty sheds light on the less glamorous realities of working alongside A-listers in the entertainment industry.
