Considering how Gymani, the fiery soul artist on Kelly Clarkson’s team, has performed constantly, her place in the bottom 3 of the top 13 was shocking. The Season 21 of The Voice presented their top 13 results on Tuesday, in which close to 10 contestants went further via the public vote- after which the last three vote-getters would perform for the Instant Save. Now, Gymani’s position here is quite ludicrous, considering she turned four chairs with her first performance- and hasn’t turned back on that.
Kelly Clarkson Begged The Audience To Save Gymani
Gymani created her own version of Ariana Grande’s “pov” back during the Blind Auditions- so much that the new judge told her that this was her song now. And ever since that magical moment, Gymani has been earning the first position of the Live Playoffs. Judge John Legend compared her to Jazmine Sullivan, and Kelly Clarkson- her own mentor- declared that her voice is the very reason why this show was established in the first place.
Needless to say, Kelly Clarkson was more shocked by Gymani’s result than anyone else. She stated that even on her best day, she wouldn’t be able to sing as well as Gymani. Clarkson’s admiration towards Gymani was palpable, as she stated that she had been doing this for the last two decades, and she had no idea how Gymani- someone who had delivered ever since her first performance– was at the bottom of the pile. After this, she repeatedly begged the audience to vote for Gymani to push her through the next top 11 round.
Kelly Clarkson’s Gymani would be facing some major competition from the other two contestants that will be singing for the Instant Save: Ryleigh Plank from Ariana Grande’s team, and Shadale, the diva from John Legend‘s team. But as luck would have it, the Instant Save worked in Gymani’s favor- with her version of Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love” setting up a vibe for the entire audience- while breaking the hearts of the two other contestants.
